I know Seventh-Day-Adventists are under the Christian umbrella of denominations, but sometimes it's nice to connect with other people that go to church on Saturday and that might know family members or what now. Anybody? I'll probably crosspost this somewhere else as well. Have a good day.

My placement was 2 hispanic girls. They were not used to the foods we ate at all.My sons girlfriend in Dominican so she taught me how to make rice and beans, another of my favorites....if I could just get it down right:eek:

Soups I remember mom making... Split Pea with bacon yeast (?) for the smokey flavor (I think she got it at camp meeting -no meat in it)Navy Bean (same as above)Chilli (with vegie burger and beans)Cream of Potatoe and Leek (made with milk)Cream of Celery (rarely due to minimal nutrients)Vegetable barley stewCream of Tomatoe (made with milk) And then when we were done our chores after school we got to make the muffins to go with it, if mom had not made bread the day before. Honestly, Friday night soup dinners are some of my favorite memories, no other family dinner night even comes close. Have I said yet that mom was an incredible cook or that she ground the wheat to make the bread? Kind regards,Dickons
ah campmeeting....I remember when I would spend the summers in NJ, that with my mom and aunt's family we would go to campmeeting in upstate new york and to tranquility nj.
I know we have a lot of natural and veggie substitutes flour/bacon/ at our food markets. Again the spoiled socal person talking that I have 2 SDA markets either in Loma Linda or Riverside to go shop at.
I just received word of a potential match...going to a full disclosure for a 5y/o hispanic girl. I'm excited.
Dickons...your mom sounds awesome. While mine didn't do the bread thing (mostly because my grandfather was a baker and my mom is just so over bread) we had many hispanic meals (comfort food) on Friday nights that it too is still my favorite night of the week...since my parents live a mile from me, I go over there for Friday night still and they come over Sabbath afternoon after church.

:cheer: :cheer: congrats Dannie, praying things work out according to HIS will.
Also praying that things will work out for me soon !!!
I missed campmeeting this year, but we look forward to them each year to hear the great speakers and meet lots of new people. It is such a blessing to be in such a large group of people who all have the same beliefs.
Thank you. I asked my mom and dad to just pray that the right match is arranged by God.
children need families no matter how they come to be in your family. If this child is a good fit and will thrive with what I have to offer, I will be more than happy to give this child a home and everything needed to thrive.

I don't have a religion, I fall under "Christo-Pagan" because I was raised with many different religions in my family, including various Christian faiths and various Pagan faith. Today when folks ask me what I am I say "Christo-Pagan" because I believe a little bit of each of the faiths I grew up in, and though I understand and identify with each one individually, I accept all of them together as part of my cultural heritage.
One of the Christian ones was SDA. It was as a result of my SDA teachings as a child, that I grew up seeing Saturday as Sabbath instead of Sunday, following the teachings of Jesus, and why I am a vegetarian. Though I no longer attend any church of any religion today, I do still shop at the SDA store in Freeport Maine, as it is the only place in Maine where I can buy the meat-substitute-soy-protien that I grew up eating, instead of meat.
