I prepared myself this year for fathers day. Although I had kinda communicated to my daughter, and some barriers are broken down, I sure as heck didn't expect a fathers day card, let alone any mention of the day.
Of course leading up to fathers day was a bear, with all of the commercials for fathers day sales and such.... Turns out that this year, Fathers day and the international "go Skateboarding Day" fall on the same day.
I was an avid skateboarder in high school in the mid-late 1980's. Recently, as I approached my 40's, I bought a new skateboard and have been back at it now for almost 3 years. So this year for Fathers Day, I went Skateboarding, I wore a "stencil" silkscreen t-shirt I made of my daughter (borderline stalker), and skated at the skate park for a couple hours.
What a way to chase the blues away.
So as my "reunion" goes into it's 3rd month of "hibernation", I have the joy brought to me courtesy of my youth.
Happy Fathers day to me!
