Who is responsible for calling the parents if we take the child to the emergency room. I called the after hours nurse and was advised to go to the emergency room. I showed the hospital the medical authorization and gave them the phone number for his parents. But who is actually responsible for calling the parents? Us, the state worker who told me to go or one of the other workers in the morning or the hospital.

As far as I know its the case worker, although I had one situation happen where my FD broke out in major hives all over her body after eating something. She was 6 months so I didn't know if I could give her benadryl so I ran her to the ER. I called the CW on the way, but she never called me back. I ended up emailing her as well and she responded. When FD had a visit three days later I mentioned the ER visit in a note to them, and I believe that was the first they had heard of it. If there had been a hospital stay there may have been a different reaction, but I don't know.

It's the CW's responsibilty. Most of us never even have the parents phone numbers, so we'd never be able to get a hold of them.
We have our workers cell numbers, and that's who I would call if I had to take one of them to the ER. If it was for something like a high fever, or hives, I would wait until after the ER visit to notify the worker, that way I could give them all the info.
If it was for something like a broken bone or accident, I would call right away to the worker. Even if you don't have the workers cell or after hrs number, there should be an after hours number for your agency or the county, who would then get a hold of your worker.
