My husband and I have adopted two teenagers. They were our foster children for about six years before we adopted them. They now regularly have visits with their birth families. In fact, they have spent about half of this summer with their birth families. Anyway, the kids are getting more aquainted with their brothers, sisters and grandparents. Both of the kids receive checks from the california adoption assistance every month. Both of the kids have asked if they can spend this next school year living with their birth families and coming back to visit us on the weekends (we live about an hour away from the birth families). Our question is...can the adoption assistance be transferred to the birth family, or do the kids lose it if they do not live with us? Maybe there is another way to handle this? I don't know. Lots of questions and I need some help. Thanks to anyone who might have some answers.
