Hi my husband and I have been foster parents to our current kids for the last 20 months. We have a 20 month old and a 4 year old, brother and sister. This case has been very strange! The mom we know is done with, she hasn't seen the kids since June of last year and still shows no interest in them. The father on the other hand, only shows enough concern that they keep the case going until recently. In October the Commissioner ordered TPR to Adopt. Of course the fathers attorney filed for a hearing over the last hearing that caused the TPR. The father supposedly didn't even know this! The Commissioner said the reason where because he can't be stable. He will stay in a place for 2-4 months then find a reason to move. Also the same with jobs! Well we had a small FST today and found out that AGAIN he switched jobs ( he just got the last job about 3 months ago) and only work 15-20 hours a week there. And just informed everyone that he is moving AGAIN! He's only been at this last place for about 3 months! Another thing that ticked the Commissioner off was that nobody knew until that day in court that he was transporting the kids in a unlicensed, uninsured vehicle and was just renewing the temp tags. Well again he informed us that he just bought a vehicle but deoens't have the money to insure it, or license it.
Anyways CASA and the caseworker are all for the lawyer having the hearing heard. But if the dad can't get his act together and the commissioner already asked for a TPR, is there anything I should worry about? Especially since he seems to be going backwards instead of forwards? Also CASA advised that the father do family therapy again, and he flat out refused! He said that he "Mastered" the program and that it's bull crap that he needs to do it again! He has no services provided to him cause he's "completed" all of them. CASA said that they need to be able to go in there and show that he does want these kids back and show that he is trying to to make progress. But he is flat out refusing. We hold staffing in Mid December.
Is there anything I can do, does anyone have any advice or know what might happen. I know every case is different, but has someone had a similar case?
Thanks!

It's always a guessing game, but it sounds to me like this dad doesn't have snowball's chance. He sounds non-compliant in the extreme! I don't think there is anything you can or need to "do" other than allow the process to continue. I also see this didn't get any responses for a few days - perhaps try posting on the 'main' foster parent support board. It is much more active. I'm not in your state and found this post by sheer boredom, looking at forums I generally don't ;-)
