Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has received any referrals & how long your wait was. We were registered in country May 28, 2009 & were told 12 - 18 months. We are looking to adopt a 4 - 5 year old boy so I am hoping our wait is a bit shorter.
I would love to hear your registration dates as I am getting a bit anxious & not really enjoying the wait.

That sounds about right from what we have heard. I would think because he is older you should get him within 12 months. keep us posted if you do get a referral. I haven't seen any healthy children referred yet under 7years old. We have been registered for 1o months and requested a boy under 2.

We were registered in Nov 2008 with our agency telling us 9 to 18 months. However, I can find no evidence of any babies coming out of BG. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. I asked the agency if we should adjust our expectations as to the time frame, but they just said they "hope" it will be in 2010. Great...hope helps me a lot.
BTW, we are adopting a girl, as young as possible.
LMI just posted on the Bulgaria_Adopt Yahoo group... (I encourage you all to join) that they have received a 3 yo girl referral... TOL has has a couple come up and the PAPs had not renewed their USCIS paperwork. So the PAPs have to update. Under the new system the children have until Jan 1st 2010 to be claimed by their parents, if not then they are placed onto a domestic adoption register and after 6 months will be on the international adoption register... that is not to say it will take off like a whirl wind but it will definitely bring more children into the light to be adopted... as before if the parents did not sign the paperwork to release them for adoption they would get stuck in the system. There were 4500 letters sent out... so far approximately 30 children have been claimed (as of last week)... this was all posted on the yahoo group last week.
I can't provide timelines but I would say Splinter has to be coming up soon.... I received my referral and traveled on my first trip however I am adopting a special needs child.
Hope this info helps...
