Is anyone technically considered relative care here?
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that my niece and nephew were going to foster their niece and nephews. Well two of the kids get SSI because of their dad. Apparently the SSI checks are being sent to the state now and my niece and nephew are getting blown off about FAKT training. They have tried to sign up for it and the lady says they have to have approval from the caseworker first and that could take 6 months. That does not seem rightOf course they won't get any per diem for the kids until do get their training done.
We were technically relative care with Kyle, but they bent over backwards to get us licensed ASAP. I don't know how to help them.
Is there anyone I should call? The kids are wards in Marion Co.

strange.. I am not sure what I am considered at this point. I was strictly relative until I was licensed. Im thinking that teh SSI should not matter in regard to what they actually want to persue. Licensing or not. but seems that those kids should be getting the SSI anyway. Maybe it has to go through the state first then to them? I wasnt aware either that any one had to have approval to take the classes?? That is how they train foster parents whether they have placements or just want to foster. it should NOT however take 6 months for that even if they did need it!
