My husband and I have two biological children. A daughter 13 and a son 12. We are adopting 3 girls ages 14, 12, 11. We want some type of ceremony that we could do at church that includes all of the kids. Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help

Our church did a "dedication." The paster asked us and the congregation questions similar to those asked at a babtism. You know, things like will we always help the child in his Christian journey, etc. The paster even had the congregation step out of the pews, hold hands in a circle around us and our children. (It circled the whole sanctuary) It was symbolic of the whole village nurturing the children. It was pretty cool. I don't know if it was right out of the book or if the paster wrote it up. Later, when they were babtised, we and the congregation repeated pretty much the same words.

This is a bit late for you, but at my church when we do a baby dedication the whole family goes up front and the pastor does sort of a vows thing. He will ask the parents if they will raise the child to love the Lord and they answer we will then he asks the rest of the family if they will do everything that they can to teach the child about God and they answer they will then he asks the church members the same thing and they say they will then they pray over the child.
My husband and I will be adopting (Lord willing) very soon and plan on having the same thing done for our child no matter how old they are when we get them.
