Our FS has ADHD - He has been on the same med for about 1.5 - 2 yrs. Over the last month or 2 in the mornings shortly after taking his med he acts loopy or goofy. It is very strange. He will do a goofy smile and lay on the sofa or on his bed and slowly wiggle around like a toddler or infant might do. This morning while I was trying to talk to him he slowly swaying side to side and as slowly lifting his glasses upward and then resting them back on his nose and he repeateded that afew times and he looked he had no clarity in thought - his eyes were "dazy". This is hard to describe. After he ate breakfast DH said okay lets get your bowl in the diswasher - with a goofy smile and that 'dazed' look in his eyes he stood up and put the bowl to his mouth (nothing was in the bowl) and he was backing away from the kitchen like he was wanting to play a toddler-like game of 'catch me'. I am really struggling to put this into words here-has anyone experienced odd/goofy behaviors with their kids shortly after they take their med. By the the time we are in the car on the way to school he is starting to act like himself again.

I thought I would come back and post an update because the info might be helpful for others. Our FS had been taking another med with the ADHD med. The other med was discontinued a few months ago. Turns out that med inhibited the ADHD med so while he was taking it he needed the higher dose of ADHD med, but when he stopped taking it his ADHD med dosage should have been lowered. Last Friday I went in and talked to the doctor. She cut his med dosage in half. We saw the difference almost immediately. The aggressivenes and extreme irritability has diminished. I now feel bad that out of all the adults (including docs) no one seemed to think of this sooner!!
