My wife and I are going to try to adopt and are in the informatio gathering phase.
I am worried because I am a firearms instructor that they will somehow someway prohibit my wife and I from adopting due to the nature of my job and the obvious fact that I have/need guns for my job. they are obviously heavily secured and never available to anyone (let alone kiddos).
Has anyone heard of this being a problem?
thanks!
No. Just ask your SW how the guns need to be kept, locked cabinet, unloaded, ammo in a separate place etc.

when we had our last homestudy, the worker asked if we had any fire arms....i thought she said fire alarms and so i told her YES, we had them in EVERY room of the house. my dh got a good chuckle out of that one.....but the worker did say that it would not have been a problem, as long as they were stored correctly.
HHAAAAAHAAAA... that is hilarious. I can just see her face going totally white.

At the time of our homestudy my husband was a firearm dealer and his shop was located behind our home. Social worker simply noted in study that firearms where kept in a safe and had safety locks on them and that ammo was not kept near the guns. Our son was born in July 09. It should not be an issue. Best Wishes!
As long as they are locked up, no worries. My DH was so worried about it, because he has a small arsenal of guns. Not a problem at all with the SW! :D
