I am a female adoptee born in KY, most likely Lexington on August 10, 1981. My birth mother was 16 and my birth father was 25. I received non-id 2 years ago, and I still can't figure out much from there. My birth certificate was amended to show my adoptive parents info. My name at birth was possibly Alicia Nichole. Only my first name's spelling was changed by my adoptive parents, so my name at birth was some form of Alicia for sure (could have been spelled different). My birth mother lived in a maternity home the last 3 months of her pregnancy. My birth father also had a 5.5 year old son (in late 1981/early 1982) from a different woman from whom he was divorced. I lived with a foster family until I was 6 months old. I was told by my adoptive parents that this was because my birth father was trying to stop the adoption. My adoptive parents were told that both birth parents were college students, but the non-id says otherwise. I assume they were lied to so they did not find out about the age difference.
I hope someone can help me find more info!
My adoptive father told me that my birth mother left me a letter to read when I was older. He read it at the time and told me that it was mostly an apology and that she hoped to be able to meet me some day. I never saw the letter though. My parents divorced when I was 2 and my adoptive mother kept it. I no longer have contact with her and she never told me about the letter.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!!
