We have been waiting for 9 months, so not quite at the year mark yet. Anyone out there been waiting for over a year?
Anyone have any major life changes while waiting - job, kids, moving etc? What did you do? How are changes viewed? As time goes on, it's hard to maintain everything to stay the same. Just curious about different situations.
HI! Our Dossier was sent to Poland in Feb 2008 and we received our referral in Feb 2009. So I hear you on waiting a year!!
Waiting is hard. We got to the point that we thought it would never happen. We received a referral for 3 in the meantime...but were not ready for that one! It was all meant to be though, because I can't imagine life without K. :)
We had no major life changes in the meantime....no moves, no job changes, etc. We were glad about it, because we were scared of the potential of a homestudy update.
My best to you on waiting. It is tough, but it will happen! (I know you've heard it before.) This is a good place to vent. I know I did!
All my best.

Sherry, I hope you get your referral soon. That is a very long time to be waiting. As you know we are not in the waiting stage just yet but should be before the end of summer. As for the major life changes I know how you feel being concerned about that. We actually had our house up for sale since last summer but pulled it off the market once we had our last homestudy meeting. We did not want moving to affect our adoption process.

Talk to your agency about any big changes. For the most part they shouldn't impact anything. You will just need to do some paperwork shuffling. We did quite a bit of job changing around during the wait process and the adoption process and the agency worked with us to understand what we were doing and tell us what we needed to provide to Poland so that it was understood.
We were asked about those changes prior to our second trip for bonding and they requested additional documentation. We were asked again during the court hearing. But it didn't seem like we weren't allowed to have the changes, they just wanted to make sure they understood the impact on our ability to take care of our new daughter.
All in all, you need to make sure you have a source of income and medical insurance. Everything else - seems to me to be a paper chase. Because of the paper chase piece you need to work closely with your agency to make sure you can provide the necessary papers.
Good luck and I hope you receive your referral soon.
Thank you everyone for your support. This board has always been helpful to get through the anxious periods. I thought it would take longer than 9 months to get the "is this ever going to really happen feeling," but it hit me a couple weeks ago.
I've just been keeping focused on all the other stuff we need to work on. Next month we are doing another concert to raise some extra money, so focused on that now, which is good.:rockband:
