In the past few years I've read quite a few books that really made me think about things and change the way I parent...
Last Child in the Woods (about how/why kids NEED to be outside and not have electronics and such)
Free Range kids (about how/why kids NEED to have more freedom and independence and again be outside)
Nurtureshock (about nature vs. nurture and education and such)
Freakonomics (about a lot of interesting things)
I read a few fiction books in between there (jodi picoult and such) but I'm ready to read another interesting book like the ones I've listed.
Has anyone read any of these books and do you know of another one that you thought was equally as good?
My sis was just telling me about Nurtureshock...need to get that one!!
The writers of Freakonomics (which also has "stuck" with me) have a new book out (I think it's called SuperFreakonomics) that you may want to try...??
ITA with you about the "outside" stuff. I am so glad that my 5 yo likes to play outside and is often just hanging out with the boys next door. It's taken me a while just to let her go without hovering though....!!!

I have read SuperFreakanomics but not their first one. I would strongly recommend anything by Malcolm Gladwell (Outliers, Tipping Point, Blink, and I think he's got a fairly new one that I haven't gotten to yet.)
I have not read the others you listed. I really need to catch up on my reading. But I also highly recommend The Nurture Assumption. I think the author is Judith Harris.
:)
I read both freakonomics books - I love them.
I had Tipping point on my list and Outliers but for some reason I just haven't picked them up yet. So I should get to it and pick at least one of those up :)
I think I have heard of Nurture assumption too so I'll look that one up and if I have seen it then I'll try to remember why I didn't get it :)
