Hi folks,
we completed session 2 of Pride and are waiting for the social worker to contact us for the homestudy. Very exciting.
How are referrals going in PA? We can adopt in the state of PA only. We are interested in one girl 5-10 with mild to mod. behavioral issues, prefer straight adopt but would do legal risk. Our agency said placement/match could be about a yr. We know of 2 couples that were proactive with flyers and were matched in less than 6 months.
Love to hear from everyone!!!

Hi and welcome! I think referrals are slower than they were several years ago, but are there. We are throwing our hat back into the ring and looking for placement #3. We want to go MUCH younger than we did before, as it would be the best for our family. We are looking for a boy or girl, under 9, any race. Im guessing at least 6 months before being matched; even though we have 1 possibility right now and we haven't even started yet (our homestudy needs to be updated still- but we are an approved foster & adoptive home since 2006 and do respite right now). I don't expect this possible placement to work out.
We are in Dauphin county and are looking for an in state placement only. We've done the out of state search, match, and ICPC placement.
Good luck in your search. Im told girls are hard than boys to find in that age range, but I wish you lots of luck!
I was waiting a long time for referrals but the last month they seemed to be picking up. I am not sure if it is because there are more referrals coming in to the agency or because I've been waiting so long, my name is closer to the top. Either way, it is a good thing when the phone rings around here.
