I am very confused! The FBI is saying the FBI checks usually take 12 weeks, but my social worker is saying 30 days. Which is it? The FBI said mine should be back in 2 weeks because it went to name checking due to my disability but my sister who is living with us will be back in 12! Please help! They were not done with a live scan
it depends on a couple things
1) whether you do a digital finger scan or old style prints
2) how backed up your local office is
my fbi check came back the same week I scanned my prints (afis query went in before i ever left the dcyf office)

There is an expedited process you can send your request through- and I think that is where you can get them in 2 to 3 weeks, instead of 3 months. I'll try to find the specific info and post it, but you can probably ask whoever is performing your homestudy about the expedited process. I believe you just write something on the outside of the envelope to the FBI (something like "Expedited request- Adoption") and you have to include a paid-for overnight envelope for them to use to send your results back. And of course, a small fee for the expedited service :) (We got ours back just under the 3 week mark.)
we just got our fbi prints back recently the non-live scan/old school way. we were also told 12- 13 weeks the last time we checked.....but they came in SEVEN :) . we are not in FL....but i don't know that it would matter what state you are in since the fbi prints are not local.

I didn't send them the social worker did. Do you think it's to late to expedite?
