Hello,
I apologize for posting this twice, but I was unsure of which forum was more appropriate (general or immigration).
I am an American citizen living in Morocco where I adopted a baby boy 3,5 years ago under local laws. He was 4 months old at the time, and has lived with me ever since.
I would like to complete his adoption in the US under the USCIS I-130 petition which allows me to request an immigrant visa for him since he has lived with me for more than two years, and is legally an orphan. As i understand it, since he is a minor, if I obtain approval for the I-130 he would automatically gain US citizenship, and then it would be a matter of completing the adoption in court.
I am looking for "adoption friendly" states that will :
- accept a homestudy performed out of the US, albeit by an registered/licensed, American social worker
- has a short residency requirement which would enable me to obtain residency after a few weeks, without having to actually, fully MOVE back to the US.
and of course, if you have any international agencies to recommend in these states that would be wonderful.
I appreciate your help,
Thank you,
Kore
