Any thoughts one these two supplementary nursing systems; Medela SNS and Lact-Aid? Does one work better than the other?

I have the Lact-aid and it works like a charm! I've never use the SNS, but I've heard that the Lact-aid is better for long term usage. The only down fall I've found with the Lact-aid is that it's quite a process to clean after every use. I would recommend getting several set ups so you don't have to clean after every feeding.

I've used both and known many other who have, too, and the Lact-Aid is definitely the favorite! Here is a link to what I have written on this issue Supplementers I wrote it more than a decade ago. I wouldn't change most of it but I would say that, because of greater knowledge about using herbs and medications, better pumps, access to information and support, etc., there are now more moms who are able to dispense with supplementing early on, or do without supplementation, than there used to be. I think it is still true, though, that most need to supplement, to some extent, and it is better to be overprepared than underprepared! Here is what I recommend. Purchase a double kit https://www.lact-aid.com/OrderProducts/tabid/957/CategoryID/68/List/0/Level/1/ProductID/517/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductNumber,ProductName That gives you two complete units. After you get your baby and you see if you think you are going to be supplementing for a long time, order the four-pack, which includes four complete units. With six, you can do cleaning and filling once or twice a day. Lact-Aid has been around for more than 40 years now. The founder, Jimmie Avery who, along with her husband, developed the Lact-Aid to help her nurse their adopted babies, passed away last year, but she was a wonderful friend to nursing mothers! Darillyn
