My question simply, I hope, is can a non-adopted child be sealed to a non-biological father who is being sealed to the biological mother.
I've asked this before and was told that it can only happen with the biological (or legal?) father's permission when the child is still a minor, but I've heard conflicting opinions on whether the child can make that choice for themselves once they are of legal age.

good question. My sister just got married and my nephew is 13. His father refuses to give up parental rights. My nephew has the choice to be sealed to his mom and step-dad once he is of legal age.
If it is not too impolite, may I ask what 'sealing' is? I've heard the term before, but don't know what it is. If it is impolite to ask, please forgive me. Thank you.

Here's the official definition from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints...
An ordinance performed in the temple eternally uniting a husband and wife, or children and their parents.
Basically it ensures that the family unit will persist after death and allow one to be a family for all eternity. HTH

Yes. With the biological father's written permission. My friend was sealed to her husband and their biological daugher and her biological daughter in the San Diego Temple. She got the biodad's permission for her daughter who was not adopted because he wouldn't give that permission. Since the sealing didn't change anything for him legally, he was ok with that.
What was crazy was the temple worker lost the signed permission when we got there and the sealing had to be postponed about an hour while they searched for it. Talk about a totally freaked out family. However it was found and all went well. It was a beautiful sealing and I was glad to be there.
I have never heard of "Sealing" But now that I have, I think it is a beautiful, beautiful tradition.
