I wanted to know if anyone had experience with this. We are in Louisiana, and or son is in FL. He is due to be placed with us in 14 days, and I need to set up mental health services for him. I can't get any help here in Louisiana.. His medical card is currently from Florida, and no one here in Louisiana wants to provide services for him without his medicaid being Louisiana. From what I heard the medicaid can't be changed over to Louisiana until the adoption is final. I can't let him go 3-4 months without any services. Anyone go thru this before?

You can do it...we did. You have to get an ICAMA done. It goes along with the ICPC. They didn't do that here, they dropped the ball and never did it so we ended up pretty much on our own. Request they file an ICAMA which will transfer the medicaid so you can use it! I'd ask the SW there to get it worked out for you. They actually made US apply for medicaid here for her ourselves which caused it to keep getting cancelled every 90 days (they would ask for documentation to continue and nobody would help us!)! It was a mess! I hope you have better luck!
