Search Angel in New York?

I'm not exactly sure what a search angel is but from what I've read they are what their name implies. Search Angels. So for any Search Angel in New York, New York, I ask this. I have a docent or docket number that was left on the adoption papers from New York. What would be involved in trying to locate the court case attached to that number. I have been told in cases of adoption it would list the adoptive parents name in the top box and all else would be blacked out because the adoptee was a minor. Any help is greatly appreciated.
