where do I start?

I was adopted from Edna Gladney but thats pretty much all I know. Where do I start? I was told its impossible for someone who came from Edna Gladney to find their birth mother. So I pretty much pushed any idea of finding her and just never tried. Now that I am older I want to know. Please... any advice would help. Thank you :) I was born in april 1985
