Bio parent's surrendered recently to avoid losing in the TPR trial. All papers were signed in court last Monday. The judge told the Maternal Grandmother to continue to keep a good relationship with me, so she can still see her grandchildren. The judge then said, you are also free to file a petition for visits. WHAT??? The judge just dropped all the court ordered grandparent visits at the surrender. Now she is telling them they can file again? Is this possible that they will get scheduled visits again?
I do not know what state you are in, but blood trumps everything. Its not over until the ink is dry. Now, just because the judge recommends they file a petition, doesnҒt mean it will get heard or approved by the judge. The court system, and the CWs have to eliminate every possibility, and that includes every possible family member. You should have the last word on visits anyway, since the bioҒs surrendered. and should it go there, and even if the petition is even heard and approved, and I highly doubt it will, you should have the last word. It's always a good idea to try to keep some ties with the bio extended family, as long it's not departmental to the child. CPS might have missed something, and the judge is just crossing her Ts and doting her IҒs. Hang in there...
