Hi,
My husband and I are just starting the process of adopting from Colombia. My husband was adopted from a Casa in Bogota as an infant, and we would like to start a tradition of adopting from the same casa. We actually just visited Bogota last week to meet with the orphanage directer, and she recommended that he renew his Colombian citizenship documents to help the process along.
So, in the meantime, I am starting to review agencies to work with here. It seems very hard to get an accurate read on all their fees though, as they all break them down differently and call them different things...
If anyone in Delaware has a recommendation on an agency that they have worked with and liked, please PM me. Or - if anyone has any tips for couples just starting out, we would really appreciate it!
Thanks so much!
I am just dropping by from the Russian board to wish you and your dh best of luck!

Hi!
And welcome to the journey!
If you are confuse by the fees, contact the agencies and explain that one of you is a Colombian citizen, the fees are different (I think there are not fees for Colombians?). There is a Yahoo Group for Colombians adopting in Colombia, I'm sure you can find a lot of information there (including how to renew the citizenship documents).
Also, the Casa that you visit may already have links with some agencies in the US, so it may be advisable to check them first :)
My best wishes!
~Nancy
