We 'may' become parents sometime in 2012 (we were approved in 2009). We are adopting two kids up to 4 years old, without any preference for gender.
So... is it too early to start buying them things?   There are things that are universal for kids: legos, paint, crayola, books, puzzle.. etc, etc.
I know in my heart that at least one of my children is already born, and I cannot resist the temptation to get him/her a Christmas gift, even it may be delivered in a later date.
My husband thinks that I'm crazy, and that it is way too early!!!
What do you think?
In adoption we have a looooong nesting period. Who cares if your husband thinks you're crazy. We have so many books that we bought while waiting for our son to come home. Now, when I read them to him I tell him how it was bought before he came home and he loves to hear these stories.
When you play with your child or read the books that you bought in the waiting period, it feels special when you are finally on the floor playing with them and the toy.
We are also looking at about the same time for a referral.
Happy waiting!
