The holiday season makes me reflective. On my life, my family...both birth and adoptive, on my reunion journey. I have said it before in various places, but I will say it again here. This website and the first mothers in particular made a BIG difference in my reunion with my birth family. Your willingness to share and listen put a human face and perspective to a journey that was wild and unknown. Growing up my own birth mother was a shadowy figure in my mind...a good woman that loved me and wanted me to have the life she wasn't positioned to provide. That was all I knew. The birth mothers here gave a voice and a heart and an experience that helped me navigate reunion. As I interacted on the website I understood that first mothers were complex humans that loved, lived, grieved. My journey started with a first mother and you helped me to journey back with insight, kindness, perspective. This has been a major life event and you helped make it positive.
Do not underestimate your contribution to adoption understanding.
Thank you.

You are very welcome! I am glad your reunion experience has been enriched through getting to know other first mothers on this site. I came here just as I was embarking on reunion and I also learned so much, from the first moms who came before me, and the adoptees who had been through it as well.
