Hey Everyone,
Well, I'm new to these boards and am really interested in locating my birthmother.
I was born in '81 at Skokie Valley Community Hospital (not sure what its called now) and was adopted by my family a few weeks later. My adoptive mother passed away from cancer when I was 3 and was raised by my adoptive father, my Nana, an au-pair and finally by my step-mother. I have pretty much everything needed to locate my birthmother (certificate of adoption, her name and old home address, letters from the lawyer that assisted in my adoption, and other various paperwork.) But everytime I try to locate her, I hit brick walls.
I couldn't have asked for a better adoptive father. He's been there to teach me things, lead me in life, and is truely my role model. I don't know whether or not I will want an on-going relationship with my birthfamily, but at least being able to find them will give me the closure that I need in my life.
Any help that you can throw my way to try and get that closure is absolutely appreciated. Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading any responses!

Hey everyone,
Just as an update... with the help of a fellow member, I enlisted the help of someone who has excellent knowledge of Illinois birthrecords. It appears that with the information I provided to him, he found my birthmother. Sadly, in trying to communicate to her (via email and snailmail), I have not received any response. I just sent another message to her on Facebook (been averaging one per year).
I truly am okay with her not wanting to have anything to do with me. I just would like to be able to put the closure to my life and be able to say "I found her." It would also be nice to know any medical history so I know what to expect.
Anyways, wish I had some better news. If anything changes, I'll post an update.
Good luck to everyone out there and if you want the information on the guy who helped me, drop me a PM.
