We have court next week, and I have been told (by our CW and Lil J's attny) that we are actually scheduled for mediation in Feb. Which to me means that a termination trial is in the very near future. (hey, I can dream, right lol).
Even if the termination trial does not happen soon, I am curious about timelines.
In your case, how long after termination of rights was your adoption finalized? What county are you in? Was there anything (in hindsight) that you could have done to speed up the process?
I am really only looking for NJ responses, just to get a feel of how long we should expect. THANKS

In THEORY it is supposed to take about 6-9 months from termination to adoption. But there is a lot of paperwork involved and that seems to throw a wrench into things. Now, ArubaGirl is right - if the birth parents appeal it can take a year or two. And what you do in that case is, check the Appeals Court website every week to see if your cases has been decided yet. This is the website for a listing of Appellate cases:Supreme and Appellate OpinionsHang in there!

Mom signed an identified surrender on June 30, 2010, Z was adopted Nov. 20, 2010. This was in Essex. It could have been faster if the adoption CW had been able to find her a$$ with both hands and a map. ;) Best of luck to you.

I LOVE it! Ours was in Essex too. We had a really great adoption CW, who moved. Then the one who shall remain nameless, replaced by a fabulous one at the end. It's really a shame that it is so variable from person to person, especially when a child's future is in their hands.
Sorry if this is a hijack, but along the same lines... After TPR, what are some of the things (besides incompetent workers and appeals) that could go wrong. For example, after TPR, can relatives still come forward and trump the FP? What else should I worry about? (Jewish mom here, must worry!)thanks.
