looking for my fathers birth parents

My father was born November 16 1955 in NY I believe, I was told his birth name was Mitchell Newall or Newell and was adopted by Elizabeth and Alfred Magill. My fathers search for his birth mother for a long time before he gave up, and now that he is deceased I really would like to fufill his mission, I too want to know where we come from.
