Starting my Journey

This is my first inquiry into searching for my birth mother and birth father.The only information that I have in my possesion is a receipt for a hospital room in Mexico,MO ($1.00 per day) in the name of Fashing, which i presume is the birthmothers family name. Where do I go from this point?

Doc, if you know where your adoption was finalized there will be court records.

All states handle their adoption procedures differently.

Generally, you can contact the clerk of the court where the adoption was finalized and they will tell you how to get non-identifying info.

You can start there. Usually the court records contain only the court proceedings and there is not a lot of personal information. It is only a place to start.

In the "Search and Reunion" section of this site there are a number of Search Angels. They may be able to help and their help is free.
