:eyebrows: I was forwarded a letter from Hendricks County, letting FP know that their placements would be limited and even unlikely especially if ages are limited. Said that as had been the case for awhile now, the plan was to keep as many children in the home as possible and if removal had to happen that family would be first. That even crimminal backgrounds and other issues that before had kept family members from taking in the children would be in some cases waived. It has been heading this way for years, I keep thinking the tides would change as stories of abuse when children are left in home (when previously the same situations would be cause for removal) hit the news. But it just goes further. Don't get me wrong I'm all for families being kept in tact. Just scares me about the kind of things that might be considered okay now . . . Anyone else get these letters from their Counties?

I received that letter. However, I was under the understanding that the whole state is now going that way. We had heard of this from a cw in a neighboring county. Also, with one of the newly appointed state judges, he is very supportive of birthparents and giving them multiple chances.
I have wondered how this will affect foster care placements. Even relatives with previous CPS history will now be considered as acceptable placements.

Our state has been that way since last summer. My friend who does foster has had a couple placements but all have been given to "family" however extended and sometimes unlikely it seems. The pendulumn shifts again towards this and then after awhile (or a sentinel event) it shifts back. Its one heck of a ride I just wonder how the children fare?
