My husband and I are wanting to start the adoption process. We have found our agency, and have the application. Now we are in a need to find the money so that we can proceed. I know that there are grants out there and loans, the problem is that so far all we have found are mostly for after the homesteady and we haven't started that, and we need money for that. If you have any sites that help in this area or ideas for this please PM us and let us know. Any help is welcomed!

I know this comment may come across harsh, but a reality check may be required. If you cannot afford the fees for the process of adoption even prior to the home study, then how will you be raising an adopted child? The financial costs involved in raising an adopted child are tremendous. Whether it's dental visits, specialist visits, neuropsychological tests, psychological visits, etc.I urge you to review your financial situation before you adopt, as the adoption costs are only the BEGINNING of what it's like to raise an adopted child.
International adoption is not cheap. We are finding that all the travel expenses related to adopting from Poland are quite significant. Having to pay for airfare (twice) , staying in an apartment for 6+ weeks the 2nd time, paying for drivers, trains, food, etc. But there are ways to come up with funds. Here are some things we have done to make it financially possible to adopt 4 separate times: sold newer car for used car, refinanced house, borrowed against 401K, cashed in savings bonds... Where there is a will there is a way. Good luck to you!
