I want to know if it was customary to name the father on birth certificates in 1932. This situation deals with an unwed mother giving up the child for adoption. Would the OBC show the father's name? Was it optional? Or was it customary to emit the name.
Would appreciate answers from anyone who knows the answer(s).
Most likely the father will not be listed because of the illegitimate aspect - but I think it is one of those case by case issues.
Mine in Washington 1961 did not list the fathers name and the legitmate check box NO was selected.
Kind regards,

My sister had two children by a married man, and list father as "unknown" on both OBC..Even though she knew and her daughter knows and has met him..that was 62 and 63. It was to protect him..Like he needed it..GRRR
