Hi ladies,
I just wanted to share with you all that after all we went through to breastfeed our little angel, we ended up with a very successful 13 months of a breastfeeding relationship :) I couldnt be happier and would have never expected that it would even had gone this long. Marlee self weened and I was ready too. For those of you just starting out, stick with it if you can. It is a wonderful and very rewarding experience.

Wow, thats a great accomplishment. Espeically adoptive breastfeeding! DId you have a full supply or did you use a supplementer?? Congrats, we are on month 5 and i am mostly pumping right now cuz he kinda refuses to use the lact aid most days, so im getting frustrated but hopefully we can get back on track soon. Its great to hear that you made it so long. Rach

Congratulations! I really enjoyed breastfeeding after about six months or so, because it becomes less work and more fun. Knowing that would happen helped me stick with it when I got tempted to throw in the towel, during the first few months. What tips do you have for moms just starting out?
Tara,
Wow, I was on this forum when I was inducing lactation with my son (now 2) and you had just brought your baby home. Time flies. Now, just 14 months later, I am now breastfeeding our adopted daughter. She came home at 3 weeks from the hospital. Its TONS of work so its nice to hear how rewarding it continues to be. Its a ton of work now, but i'm going to stick with it....

Sorry it took me so long to post again but I have been so busy and have had no time to keep up here! As far as going so long, I don't know really, I just kept on pushing through. After 4 months I stopped using the la raid because I was finding she would be mosey and pull away and then it was becoming difficult to get back in etc. I started introducing a bottle to top her up with. She took to that well and usually would top up an ounce or two after each feed. I went back to work when she had just turned 10 months old and at that pointshe would only nurse in the early morning, mid morning before j went tn work and then evening and u would sk a dream feed at night. There were many times where she was not interested but I persisted Sony wouldn't loser milk. That is a bug part of why I did dream feed for so long. Eventually, after a year, I stopped the dream feed and stopped offering during the day. She would a
Ask and I would give. By just about 13 months she started buying for fun and not interested in eating. It was around then that she basically self weened. By that time I was ready. For several weeks after and still now occasionally she will ask for milk and I will nurse but she quickly remembers that the supply is gone and she stops. There wereqny times here it seemed like lots of work to keep it up but I remembered all that I went through to have this opportunity so I would push through. I didn't really answer any questions but all I can say is that it is so worth it overall. There may e tough times but the great moments totally outweigh the hard ones! I still feel so blessed to har been able to have this experience with my baby girl.
