Dear Ms. Parsons:
Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding legislation that I proposed regarding adoption subsidies in Indiana. I appreciate your support and your input on this matter.
I introduced Senate Bill 357 this year, and the bill did receive a hearing in committee, but it did not pass out of the committee by the predetermined deadline. It was my hope that language from SB 357 would be incorporated into the state's biennial budget, but that did not happen either. I feel that by having an adoption subsidy offered to potential parents, but then not offering any funding for the subsidy is a great disservice to those willing to make a commitment and adopt children in our state. I am sorry that I could not relay more positive news to you pertaining to this subject.
Once again thank you for taking the time to contact me with your thoughts on this particular issue. Please feel free to contact me again if you have questions or comments on legislation that might come before the Senate in the future.
Sincerely,
John E. Broden
Indiana State Senator
Senate District 10

Hopefully he will keep trying. Everyone needs to voice an opinion to the Representatives about this.. his statement about offering then not funding is exactly what gets me. Either offer and fund.. or dont offer at all!

at least someone is aware.. and trying to do something about it. I was suprised to see that bill he had going. which is what prompted the letter I sent him. I had been watching and watching it.. and then it stopped moving.. and I sent a letter then asking for info on it. ( that was the 2nd inquiry on it I had made) then the third after getting message saying it didnt make it out of committee. Funny too, I heard that Daniels was toying with an idea to give a tax rebate of some sort because the state took in more than expected!!? WHAT!? keyaowuld have bmeem
