Hi, I was a part of an immigrant petition which was approved before i got 18 years old but sadly due to scarce resources then me and my elder sister were left years after.
I'm 35 now married civil with 3 Boys, 10 yr old and 8 yr old and a baby. My mom have her own house now in California and remarried and since life is steep here in Philippines, she had planned to adopt my 2 eldest sons. I have nothing against her since what she thinks is for best specially she don't know how to take us there as family. So as i understood she wants my kids to be the ones to petition me and wife and our baby as they grow on legal age. but here are my questions of concern.
1. Can my kids choose to keep my Surname since my mom has already remarried if they get adopted?
2. If not, can they revert their surname back after growing to legal age yet still keep the privilege of a US citizen?
3. If not also, can our kids still petition us later on even if we no longer share same surname?
4. can we adopt back also that they retain their being US citizens later on?
Thank you so much in advance for your kind advice and guidance dear friends.
