Does anyone have a particular daycare chain, place to take classes/school (karate, Little Gym, Y, etc), or day camp that they reccomend?
Or, if you're close to us (we're in Essex) a babysitter?
We got a 'surprise' placement of a 5 yr old (we usually only take teens, but they really needed the bed. And since we were debating opening our license anyway... what the heck, right?), and I don't have ANY of these things lined up (since I haven't exactly needed them before)...
Please and thank you!
(Cross posted in for the 'chain' questions.)

I don't know where you are in Essex, but the YMCA in Montclair and in West Orange both run some great classes. Also, Peanutshell childcare in Livingston (part of the West Essex Y) is a great facility. They have a lot of activities and even swimming lessons. My DD was there for a while when I worked.
We also used My Gym in West Orange. They run a camp I believe.

He's slowly adjusting. It's a little rocky, but I *think* we're starting to get into a groove. Thanks for asking.
And we've mostly decided on Y Camp for the summer. I think wearing him out a bit every day will go a loooong way with this one, haha.
Can any of y'all give me a heads up on regular babysitting? Does everyone need to be fingerprinted and whatnot?
Glad he is settling in. And great choice with the Y. We have done it for years and just love it. My older guy is at New Discoveries this week actually.
On regular babysitting, yes on the fingerprints. If it's an occasional here or there, we never did it, but our everyday sitter got them done. DYFS will pay for it, so I always think it's better to get more done than you need than to not get it done when you should have, you know?
Is your guy having visits? We had a five year old our last placement and the visits were really hard for him to manage. Every time we got in a routine, a visit would get him right back off track. It was so hard because he so wanted to hold it together but the visits were just overwhelming for him.

Gotcha, that's how I thought fingerprints for sitting worked...
And yes, he does have visits. He was a little wound up after the last one, which is to be expected. I'm hoping that's all it is, but we'll have to wait and see him 'on track' before we can tell if they take him 'off track.'
He's a tough little cookie, though... which is probably a little good and a little bad, lol.
