Those of you who have adopted from fostercare... when you talk about subsidy, are you talking about the one-time adoption assistance or the ongoing monthly stipend? As I understand it, Indiana has no money for the ongoing stipend, correct? Also, I hear people talk about federal subsidies. What is that? Is it automatic? Is it just at tax time? Thanks for being patient with me on this. :thankyou:

I think for most of us when we talk subsidy we are talking about the ongoing monthly payments. You are correct that currently Indiana does not have funds for State subsidy- a waiting list instead.. Many kids get Title IV-E subsidy (federal) which is what all of mine qualify for. It's definitely not automatic & you now have to negotiate for it.. It is monthly until they are 18 though :)*I wrote a complete book.. PM me if you want to chat more about it :) Or FB me your # and I can call you (or call me)> lol

We adopted our daughter from foster care last year and she qualified for the Title IV-E stipend, Medicaid and the adoption fee. You have to push it with your caseworker to prove that the child needs it. We adopted an older child so she was considered "special needs" plus she had a slight medical condition that needs treatment over her lifetime. If they do not qualify for the Title IV-E stipend then the waiting list for the State stipend is years from what we were told but since she qualified for the Federal we didn't have to go on the list.
It's easy to do. Just go to the top of the page and click on User CP (control panel) in the green bar and on the left. Once that page opens, just look for Edit Signature and click. Then you can type in what you want and click save.
