I'll try to be concise... I always knew I was adopted. The story I was told was that my birth mother was a college student who had an affair with a married man, got pregnant and put me up for adoption. My adoptive father died a few years ago and my mom fell, recently, and broke her hip. It is clear that she will not be able to return home - so I am in the process of cleaning out her house. I have found some interesting things in the process...
#1 Immediately after I was placed with my adoptive parents, they changed their names and moved away.
#2 My mother's oldest friend, and former neighbor, worked for the the adoption agency (Los Angeles County) and personally handled my "adoption".
No one EVER mentioned either of these things to me and now I'm wondering if something shady occurred here. Of course my adoptive mother won't talk to me about it (that in itself is suspect) and the daughter of the friend (now deceased) who worked for LA County says "I thought you knew", but won't say anything else - tells me to ask my mother.
According to my (new) birth certificate, I was born 02 November 1952, in Centinella Hospital in Inglewood, CA.
Who would I contact, after all these years, to find out what really happened?

Have you requested your non-identifying information from Los Angeles County? On the top left hand side of your birth certificate there are numbers which should include "52-" - if you send me the number I can match your birth record to your birthparents names. You can message me if you would like.Lisa
