Hi Adoption friends in prayer,
My dream for over 15 years has been to have an Adoption Library in the community to be shared with adoptees, birth parents & adoptive parents & family and relatives of those touched by adoption and professionals in adoption. I have hundreds of books on adoption and have had some fundraisers. Pray for a location that is a convenient, high traffic location in the western suburbs and reasonable rent or volunteered space for this outreach. A safe place for friends of adoption to gather, find encouragement, education and adoption resources for the lifelong journey.

Jody, what an amazing thing you're doing! I love the idea of an adoption library!! I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm positive that the Lord will open up the doors for you on this one.
BTW, I want to thank you for your thread on John Newton. It really got my attention, and I ended up buying a couple books about his life. I had heard of him before, in fact I received a book about his incredible life from the Billy Graham Library a few years ago. I can't remember the title of it, though, and I can't find it in my bookcase now. But it was all about how we're saved by grace, not by works. It was a very healing book to read. :loveyou:

Thanks so much Raven for your nice words and encouraging posts on the adoption library- a long time dream I have had. Also glad you read more on John Newton- he is an amazing man- whose story from Disgrace to Amazing Grace ( a wonderful full biography on his life written in recent years ) so interesting that he adopted his 2 orphaned nieces.
You mentioned going to the Billy Graham Library- do you happen to live in the Chicagoland area- I live within a half hour of the Billy Graham Center in Wheaton. I also host a monthly adoption triad support group in Naperville, IL once a month- 3rd Thursday of each month. Blessings to you and thanks again for posting!

Jody, I live in Northern California, smack dab in the middle of the "Mother Lode," where the big gold rush happened in 1849. I ordered the book I mentioned about John Newton online at the Billy Graham website. The book was amazing to read because Newton had been a slave trader, but wound up being an abolitionist. God was able to change John Newton's heart in such a dramatic way, and that just intrigued me so much. The story of his life brings hope to us all, IMHO.
That is so cool about you leading a triad support group in real life. Have you ever considered starting another one online? There would be a lot of interest, I believe -- so many adoptees and birth/first mothers frequently ask me if I know of an online triad support group.
Hi Raven, thanks for the note and YES, John Newton, Amazing Grace hymn writer was transformed by the grace of God- truly amazing when you read the full account of his life- from wretched slave trader and vile man for many years changed and remembered his mothers teachings as a child- she died when he was 7 and he was left to be raised by his reckless father who lived on ships. The book Disgrace to Amazing Grace is a recent book and details his early years and life lived in total disregard for God, morals or civil living. Reading that book made me realize that anyone can change when touched by the heart and transforming work of the Holy Spirit. WOW! I compiled a book written in the 1700s, published in the 1800's of John Newton's loving letters to his adopted daughter ( his orphaned niece ). His letters show his genuine love, edification of her and also his continual pointing her to God's character and goodness and his desire for her putting God 1st in her life.
I focus more now on online adoptee groups and also have lead some adoptee Bible studies for female adoptees. But adoption triad groups are super to help persons see adoption and its impact on all sides of adoption -it was life-changing for me. That is why I continue to lead local adoption triad groups. Thanks for sharing Raven and for your posting!
