I just heard about this resource and thought I would share it with folks. It's a weekend "family camp" experience for Jewish adoptive families. The one I heard about is in New Jersey, although I'm not entirely sure which camp it's at. When I inquired I was told the program will be out next month, so I don't have a ton of information, but I have a friend who went with her husband and daughter and said it was fantastic. I'd heard of Jewish camps doing family camp weeks or weekends, but this was the first one I'd heard of for adoptive families, and thought others might be interested as well. If anyone is, let me know and I will pass on the specific information when I get it.
Even though I am in Florida, I would love to hear about this! As a "Jersey girl", I can always find an excuse to head home for a visit!

The program is called Forever Families Weekend. It is for Jewish families touched by adoption. Run jointly by Jewish Family Services of Greenwich and the New Jersey "Y" Camps, it is held at the NJY camp facility in Milford, Pennsylvania, just 90 miles from Manhattan.
The program is tentatively scheduled for the second weekend in June, 2012. You can keep an eye on the camp website Center for Jewish Family Life - Family Camp Weekends or email me at dschwartz@jfsgreenwich.org for more info.

Just a quick update for those of you interested... Forever Families Weekend 2012 will run from June 8-10 at the NJ Y Camps in Milford, Pennsylvania. Prices for 2012 will remain the same as 2011: $250 per adult, all-inclusive, and free for children 18 and under. I can email you a flyer if you are interested in details.
Just a brief update:
Two new families registered this past week - a Maryland family with two children from Ethiopia and a Massachusetts family with a bio child and a child from China.
We have been evenly represented each year in terms of domestic versus international adoption.
On the domestic side, we had families who adopted infants at birth AND families who adopted through foster care. On the international side, last year Guatemala was our most represented country in terms of international adoption. We've also had families with children adopted from China, Russia, Korea, the Ukraine, and Lithuania.
Families have traveled from as far as Maine and Washington, DC to join us for our weekend in Pennsylvania!
Will you join us this year?
