This is our first adoption so we are learning as we go!
We went through a Christian agency here in NC for our home study but we used an attorney for the actual adoption because we know the bmom personally. The agency has been a little shady throughout the process and I just found out that they are not returning our birth certs and marriage license. I was NEVER told that they were going to keep them so I sent the originals.....assuming I was going to get them back.....Is this how it works? I'm more upset with the fact that I was never informed that they would keep them because then I could have at least gotten copies before I sent them ours. Any input would help! Thanks!
Hmmmm.....They asked for originals not certified?? I don't know. I just wish I had known before hand! I thought because they asked for originals that we would get them back and they never said otherwise  Thanks for your help though!

We just had to send copies of everything. I think we had a few certified copies of our marriage license so we sent one of those, but our birth certificates were just copied here at home and then sent.
Will they let you get your originals back and get certified copies made if need be?
ours just got copies of our birth cert and marriage liscense... and from what i've seen at all the agencies, they keep what they get in your file.
Buuut, since you are wanting your originals back.. can you trade them a copy so that you're still trying to work with their requirements?
The paperwork they sent specifically said originals and when I asked they said they had to have originals.....but like I said, they haven't been easy to deal with in the first place. We are going to get certified copies and see if they will exchange them. I just think it's odd that they want "originals"? Thanks for your help though!!
