Hi, everyone. We have been foster parents for 2 1/2 yrs now & it's starting to get so discouraging. We had a placement for 8 months, waited 15m for our current placement. My question is: Is adoption of kiddo's 0-4yrs even possible in our State? Our current placement we brought home from the hospital & it will take a miracle to be able to adopt. I'm NOT against reunification(just to be clear), it's just really hard to keep waiting & waiting with no leads in sight. This past winter we were "the" family for a sibling set, at the TPR hearing a great great Aunt was found & the kids went to her instead. It just seems impossible to adoption through foster care. I know this is a downer post, I'm just so frustrated at this insane wait! Thanks in advance for any insight or encouragement.
It's definitely possible, but just more difficult with the way the wind currently blows if you know what I mean.
What ages, sex do you accept?
Are you in a metro area?

Thanks. :) Age- 0-4yrs, open on race & gender although we do want to adopt a little girl. We have two boys & would love to add a daughter at some point. We live in Northern Indiana, not very close to a Metro area.
I was 0-3, girl for 6 months, never got a call. Told them I would take a boy, and BAMM, got a call about 3 days later for my current 1 y/o. He should RU and I hope the next child will be an older 2 y/o if it is a boy, or a girl of 0-3. My son just does better with girl babies, if they are old enough for him to play with well, boys are ok, otherwise, just ask him, he doesn't want a boy "baby" in the house!
I'm not saying he rules the roost, but . . .
he can sure make the roost uncomfortable for Mommie, lol :hissy:
oh, and I am in the Metro area so a larger pool of children in care(supposedly). My lw worker said they just dont' get many single females in the system. Really odd when you think about it, does that mean that boys are more likely to be abused or neglected than girls???
