Our I-600 was approved and we received a notice stating that the information was being forwarded to the State Dept. Do we simply wait for an interview date or do we have to specifically file a Visa application first?
I feel like we should file the application, but others have said you just get the visa interview and I've read that you submit the application and fees at the interview. If this is the case, any idea how long it typically takes to get an interview date?
Also, do the adoptive parents have to be at the Visa interview?
Thanks!
Sit tight. They will send you everything you need to know and sooner than you might think. You will get information about what you need to do for the interview and how to apply for the visa.
We adopted internationally independently so we didn't have an agency to advise us and it went fine.

Thanks for your response! I actually contacted the State Dept.'s Office of Children's Issues (202-736-9130) and spoke with the officer in charge of Jamaica. She said we do have to file the visa application in order to get the process moving. But she also said that each country is different and with some you don't have to do that, you just get your appointment and such.
I hope this info helps someone else with
