I am searching for my sister. Adopted name is Patricia Adams. She was born in 1954 or 55. She lived with our mother until she was 3. Birth mother Dorothy Jenkins father Joseph O'malley. Adopted by paternal grandparents. She was born in Scranton, Pa. She may be living in Kingston, Pa.My brother was born 2 years later and was given up at birth. The adoptive family's last name was James or Janes. They lived in West Scranton, Pa. I just found out about my siblings and am eager to find them. Please help.
Hi Becky, I too am looking for my siblings in that neck of the woods. I do have the names but it is still difficult to find people after half a Century or more, what annoys me is people hanging up the telephone before I have finished explaining who I am and what I am looking for, International calls are too expensive to ring back several times trying to get them to talk. My fathers family came from Northampton, East Stroudsburg, and moved to several places in that area over the years. My fathers burial card says he was buried at Pocono Pines Cemetry. I am searching for my half Brother and Sister, both of whom do not know I exist. Do you know if there are any organisations in the area that may be able to help me find them.

Hi Dave
I found my sister in January and reunited with her in March. I am still looking for my brother. He is proving to be quite challenging. My sister was adopted by her father's grandparents but my brother was put up for adoption in spring or summer of 1957.
If you have information you can go to the Pennsylvania website. There is a form you can fill out and information will be given if you were raised by one of the birth parents. I tried this and still nothing. I know which agency was used but because my mother did not give prior written consent before she died they will not release any information. It is a very frustrating process.
I found my sister with help from someone I met on a genealogy chat site although I was not welcomed by everyone there. She had some contacts and it turned out she even knew members of my brother in law's family.
I will be glad to try and help you anyway I can.
Hi Becky, so glad to hear you had success, things don't always work out the way we would like as I know from finding my Mother back in 1984. I don't think filling out a form is going to help much as I am the son of a G.I. from WW2. Just need to keep searching until I find that one little clue to take me further. I think I have used up my share of luck. From a name and location in Bristol England I found my Mother in Los Angeles and now from just a name I have identified the Army units here in Bristol during 1944, found a soldier in that unit, traced him sailing back to P.A. on the Queen Mary, found his Burial details and got the family history back to my Grandfather , located a cousin who unfortunately has no idea where Eddie or Linda are, I will get there one day. Faith and determination achieve all things in the end.

Hey Guys, for all of you that are searching in PA, the PA adoption records are no longer sealed. You can see a copy of the law by going to PA adoption Law.
I wish you the best.
Well it all worked out in the end, have just got back to the UK after visiting my Brother and Sister, I eventually found them in Florida. A 50+ year search has ended with my birth Mother located in L.A., two Sisters on my Mothers side of the family in Yuma AZ and now my Father identified and my Brother and Sister on his side of the family found. I no longer have questions just answers, it's a very relaxing feeling to loose all that "not knowing".
