I've really had a hard time letting things from the past go. I thought I had dealt with it but kept getting physically sick. They say it's accepting and moving on but I have panic attacks and anxiety everyday as a reminder. Anyone who has gone through the same thing have any suggestions?

Well I think it's normal having a hard time letting traumatic things go. Most people do. So... that part is normal. And I think it takes a lot of hard work to progress, I surely have worked very hard to become different, and... I am. Life is easier. But it's been a struggle to get here, just glad I did it.Have you tried EMDR? Know what it is? Something about what you wrote seems like it would help. It's amazing. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that was developed by Francine Shapiro[1][2] to resolve the development of trauma-related disorders caused by exposure to distressing events such as rape or military combat. According to Shapiro's theory,[1] when a traumatic or distressing experience occurs, it may overwhelm usual cognitive and neurological coping mechanisms. The memory and associated stimuli of the event are inadequately processed, and are dysfunctionally stored in an isolated memory network. The goal of EMDR therapy is to process these distressing memories, reducing their lingering influence and allowing clients to develop more adaptive coping mechanisms.
