My nephew was placed with me when he was two days old. he is now 5 months old his parents have ask me to adopt the baby and of course I said yes. We go to court nov 21 so the parents can relingish their parental rights. I have already completed my home study. how long will it take to finalize the adoption. There are no other family members that are stepping forward.:banana:

Our birthmom relinquished before court. It is a matter of an attorney drawing up the papers, which could easily be done in a week.
We spent money on an attorney that pushed everything through. Do you have contact with CASA or GAL? That could be your first step.
Will there be any agreement for visitation?

Our attorney is known for fast-tracking adoptions and from the time we first sat down with our attorney to take our information, until adoption day, it will be 6 weeks.
I've heard stories of adoptions taking 6 months and longer, so I feel very fortunate to have the attorney that we do.

Talked with an adoption worker yesterday, she said that if the parents are not contesting anything, then it should take about 6 weeks from the time they sign off. hopefully everything goes as planned. will keep you updated.

UPDATE: As of Nov 21 st the parents signed off we are now on the road to adoption hopefully it will not take a long time. Our adoption worker seems very motivated so this could be good.:cheer:

Well as of April 5, 2012 the adoption was final he is all ours now!:dance:
