I finalized my stepparent adoption for one child born in California and the other born in Illinois. I have not been able to find any information on updating and obtaining their birth certificates with my name. Has anyone researched this?
:thanks:
We haven't finalized yet but I believe you were suppossed to take the forms with you where you fill in all of the new info and then it gets sent to Austin,TX and I believe its a 25 dollar fee.

It gets sent with the adoption decree. You probably can send in the adoption decree with the certificate and with a check for the fees.
I am just now going through this. So, you have to send 1 finalized adoption decree to austin with their fees (you can call texas vital stats for the price). Also, you need to send 1 adoption decree finalized to Illnois vital statistics (you can find the number online and call). They can tell you where to send it along with their fee.
You will need to send 1 final certified copy of the adoption decree to California Vital Statistics (call for fee) along with a signed copy by the district clerk Certificate Of Adoption (can be found on Texas Vital Statistics Website), 1 final certified copy to Illinois Vital Statistics (call for fee) along with a signed copy by the district clerk Certificate of Adoption, and then 1 certified final order of each child's adoption along with each child's certificate of adoption to Texas Vital Statistics...When you print out the Certificate Of Adoption at the bottom will have instructions on where to send the items to TEXAS Vital Statistics. You will need to call Illinois and California's Vital Statistics to find out their fees and where to send these documents
