My mother's cousin gave up her first and only child in 1964. After learning of my reunion with my son, she asked if I could locate her son. She gave me his DOB, place of birth, and the name she had chosen. She had no idea what he was renamed, where or with whom he went. I queried the reunion registry here and located a record that had to be a match. Unfortunately the record was created in 1999, the phone number was long out of service and the email address never responded. After hitting that wall I called a reunion registry in my state and spoke with a woman about how to track an out of service phone number. She took down the information I had--precious little, really, and no legal name at all--and I thought that was that. Two months later, my mother's cousin received a call from the registry woman. Her son had registered with them almost a decade ago. I don't know why it took two months to link up the records but three weeks ago, my mom's cousin spoke to her son for the first time. Miracles happen! You never know which little piece may fall in place to bring adoptees and firstmoms together. Don't give up! It's nice to know that I played a small part in bringing them back together.
