I'm trying to locate my birth mother. I have identified my father (deceased), and found a few pieces of information about him and his family in the Hammond Times on-line archives, but they only include a few issues of the paper. The complete archive is in the Hammond Library. I think there might be a marriage announcement in 1942-1944, but am located in the West coast. Is there anyone in the area who can help? So far the nearest person I've found is over 50 mi. away. - Thank you very much for any information.
Did you contact the Hammond Library?
Most librarians love searches like this. They might be willing to search through the archives and send you copies.

Thanks for the thought, but yes I did contact the Hammond Public Library. They started a search, but only found what I had found on-line. It turned out that they were using the same online newspaper service I was using. Library staff and time are limited and they said a manual search through all of the on-site newspapers would take too much time.
I'm trying to save-up for the trip from California to Indiana, and the time it would take to search (probably almost a week), as a last resort.
