Hello,
When my son was born, I lucked into the Hallmark First Christmas Ornament for a black baby. Now we've brought home our baby girl, and I'd like an ornament for her. However, I haven't been able to find one. Hallmark doesn't seem to make one anymore. I did find one at Kohl's, but it was kind of cheesy.
Any suggestions?
Thanks very much!

I found an adorable one of a black girl at Kohl's for our daughter's first Christmas, but it was 2 years ago. It's a baby in a pink outfit crawling on a cloud & she has dark skin & a realistic hair texture, it's not like the white baby painted black. You could also look on Ebay, but this close to Christmas you might not get it in time.Congratulations on the baby girl, I remember you were waiting a long time!
Do a search on this forum and the AA forum for ornaments. I remember someone posting a link for a site that had custom ornaments. It was really handy because you could get something for kids who were adopted at older ages and the ornament could reflect their interests like sports or dance. They had certain skintones already in stock and they could backdate the ornament if took a while to finalize or if you need a replacement. For the life of me I can't remember the website name.
Another option is a photo ornament. Put a picture of the baby in the ornament. I'm not a fan of putting pictures on a christmas tree but some people like it.

I think this is the website because they have a lot of ornaments for older kids in various skintones.
Here's a couple for new baby...one for a girl and one for a boy. I didn't see the snowflake for the girl. I really like the snowflake ornament.

Another one... I'm assuming this is supposed to be gender neutral.

Just some food for thought. My wife and I are white. our first three kids were white. Back when they were little we went shopping for an Angel for the top of the tree. The one we found, happened to be black. We all thought it was the most beautiful. Not because she was black, but because she was beautiful and she's been on the top of our tree every year since.Of course now we have a fourth child, who happens to be a real live black Angel. But when I look at him I don't think about my 'black' son. I think about my beautiful son.I think we can get carried away sometimes worrying about getting the color right. Could it be that a beautiful first ornament is what you are looking for?

The OP has another child and that child already has a First Christmas ornament that has a black baby on it. For the sake of continuity wouldn't be best to have similar ornaments for both kids? I know my kids would have a cow if one had an ornament that "resembled" them and the other one didn't. My kids don't have first Christmas ornaments because Hallmark stopping making the one with the ethnic baby on it the year before they were born. We got one for one of our foster babies and it was beautiful.
My MIL gave all the grands ornaments with their names engraved. There is a big age gap from 27 to 6 years old and they all have the same metal ornaments even though they were given as gifts for their 2nd or 3rd Christmas. My kids noticed that they didn't have an ornament with their name on it and sure enough that was the year MIL gave them one as a gift.
